Tips For Indian Tourists Before Visiting Russia

IMG_1925

There are few tips that every Indian tourist should keep in mind before visiting Russia. It will definitely help you in exploring the majestic country.

Russian Information Centre in India has prepared a detailed invaluable list for Indian travellers to make our journey hassle-free and smooth. Please read them carefully.

Russia and Russians
1. Russians like India, it’s culture and history. Most Russians have a positive image about India and expect closer, increased relations and co-operation between the two countries.
2. Smiling to strangers is not a part of Russian culture. Russians are polite and professional, and they do smile whole heartedly after they come to know you – which often takes time.
3. Revolution and two world wars, dramatic political changes of the past century have a clear bearing on every Russian’s mind. Hence, Russian people think very deep while they generally look forward to a secure and prosperous future. For the same reasons, Russians can be protective about their culture, language and the country. Sometimes to the point of fiercely defending their beliefs.

  1. The author is being extremely kind here. Russians literally smell Indian passports and when we went for the time it took to do for four of us, next line 15 had been done. And we were family with small kids.

Extremely unfriendly proud to border of arrogance.

Only country in the world where even at immigration no one knows English. No one. Forget rest of country.

Since war have taken many men, their women to men ratio favour women heavily n women are working everywhere. Airport security included!!

  2. Thank you for sharing this post! Although I am not Indian, I’m sure this will help me out as well. I recently made a post about some things that I did to prepare myself for my Thailand trip. Feel free to check it out and comment to let me know what you think ! 🙂

    1. Hi ! Glad to know that you will be visiting Delhi in October. Delhi’s climate is extreme. So expect the temperature to be around 30-34 degree Celsius. You will find a lot of touts everywhere, including airports. Just ignore them. Also ask the Tuktuk driver to go by meter. Most of them oblige. I go by meter from my home to office. There are plenty of monuments to be enjoyed. If I am free, I can take you to some sites or good restaurants. Regards – Deepak

  3. Hi
Just to bring you up to date. We had a fantastic trip to India and will definitely go back again. It is an ‘In Your Face’ experience. The noise, the people.the colour all contribute to an unforgettable, if some times uncomfortable experience. We went with G Adventures and had an English speaking tour guide (or CEO as they call them) which made it much easier and we were glad we did as we would have made loads of mistakes.
The food was great, though surprisingly mild compared to the Curries we eat here in the UK and we made sure we had hand wash and hand wipes with us at all times.
I loved Chai and Lassie though it was Samosa’s that became an addiction.
I suggest some ear plugs might come in handy if you need quiet to get to sleep.
WE hardly ate meat whilst we were there as the vegetarian food was fantastic.
There was plenty of beer available but again, we didnt drink a lot of alcohol as we were just too busy.
You can read a full account of our trip, warts and all, on my Blog.

    Hope this helps.
