Few Words & Images About Bucharest

IMG_0085

Few hours are not enough to explore a charismatic city like Bucharest. So which is the best place to visit in a short time? I asked my friend and she quipped: Old Town.

Located in the centre of Bucharest, Old Town attracts many tourists across the globe. Filled with numerous bars, cafes and restaurants, the old town is quite popular among locals and tourist alike. Locals fondly call the area Centru Vechi (the Old Centre).

It is difficult to say which restaurant is better than the other, but I strongly recommend Hanul lui Manuc. (Hanul lui Manuc – 62-64 Franceza St). The food as well as the ambience here is amazing.

Fortunately, I managed to capture the beauty of Bucharest’s iconic Palace of the Parliament, the second largest administrative building in the world. If you are in the city, you should include this in your itinerary.

Well, my Bucharest story ends here as I did not have much time to explore this city.

International Tourism Continues To Grow

newhome-logo

2016 started on a strong note for international tourism. International tourist arrivals grew by 5% between January and April 2016 according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Results were robust across almost all subregions and many destinations reported double-digit growth. Prospects for May-August remain positive, with around 500 million tourists expected to travel abroad in the Northern Hemisphere summer holiday peak season.

Destinations worldwide received 348 million international tourists (overnight visitors) between January and April 2016, some 18 million more than the same period last year (+5.3%). This follows an increase of 4.6% in 2015, and could make 2016 the seventh consecutive year of above-average growth, with international arrivals increasing by 4% or more every year following the crisis in 2009.

Fly over the mysterious Nazca Lines in Peru – An Experience to Cherish Forever!

Peru offers a wide spectrum of opportunities for the travellers, right from sight-seeing to gastronomy, everything is magnificent and enticing. It is a country blessed with rich culture, mesmerizing beauty and breathtaking adventure sites. Machu Picchu is one of the major highlights of the trip of South America but there is much more to explore in Peru beyond this place.

Tourists can enjoy a boat ride in Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world; enjoy a fancy picnic in the middle of the dessert in Paracas, under the spectacular star-filled sky; exploring the mysteries of the Nazca Lines, tracings of mysteriously preserved drawings in the desert sand; visit the Colca and Cotahuasi Canyons, the deepest canyons in the world; fishing piranhas in the Amazon River, the mightiest river in the world; or experience the modern lifestyle sightseeing in the streets of Lima, the only capital in South America facing the Pacific Ocean. The uniqueness in the landscape, the people and the rich experience here makes Peru one of the most extra-ordinary destinations to visit.

Nazca Lines is amongst the top 10 places to visit in Peru. The Nazca Lines were declared a World Heritage Site in 1994. Find out how you can make the most out of this experience.

Nazca Lines were drawn on the surface between the period 550 – 600 A.D. These are the greatest known archaeology’s enigma owing to its size, continuity, nature and quality. Geographers have depicted them to be the living creatures, imaginary beings, stylized plants and also many kilometres long geometric figures. These lines are associated with some astronomical functions. These images on the ground are so big in size that the best way to get a full view of them is overflying them.

Flying over Nazca Lines leave all the tourists spellbound as they glare at the perfect shapes of a spider, a lizard, different kinds of birds like humming birds, sea birds, a monkey, a whale and even spot the design of powerful Andean Condor. The planes that are used to take tourists fly over Nazca are of the optimum standard. All the airplanes can accommodate 4-12 passengers + 1 pilot + 1 copilot. The tour departs from the Maria Reiche Airport that is located in Nazca itself. All year round, the flights are scheduled daily, although they are subjected to weather conditions. Nazca Lines are surely one of the most impressive and prevailing mysteries of the Peruvian history and it would be surely an experience to cherish for your lifetime if given a chance to fly over them.

You can reach Nazca by bus from Pisco and Lima. The bus journey from Pisco takes about 3.30 hours and from Lima it takes about 6 hours to reach Nazca. You can even take regular daily flights via LC Perú Lima – Pisco – Lima and continue with your journey. During the peak season starting from June to September the tour must be booked two weeks prior to the travel date to get confirmed seats.

Tips For Indian Tourists Before Visiting Russia

IMG_1925

There are few tips that every Indian tourist should keep in mind before visiting Russia. It will definitely help you in exploring the majestic country.

Russian Information Centre in India has prepared a detailed invaluable list for Indian travellers to make our journey hassle-free and smooth. Please read them carefully.

Russia and Russians
1. Russians like India, it’s culture and history. Most Russians have a positive image about India and expect closer, increased relations and co-operation between the two countries.
2. Smiling to strangers is not a part of Russian culture. Russians are polite and professional, and they do smile whole heartedly after they come to know you – which often takes time.
3. Revolution and two world wars, dramatic political changes of the past century have a clear bearing on every Russian’s mind. Hence, Russian people think very deep while they generally look forward to a secure and prosperous future. For the same reasons, Russians can be protective about their culture, language and the country. Sometimes to the point of fiercely defending their beliefs.

Mild Moments At Wildflower Hall

Frankly speaking, I am not a luxurious traveller as it could cost a bomb. However, free trips to luxurious hotels and resorts are more than welcome:) Thanks to Himalayan Natural Mineral Water, I won a travel contest on their Facebook page and won 2N/3D package at Wildflower Hall.

Nestled in the picturesque Shimla-Kufri highway, Wildflower Hall is a kind of place where luxury embraces tranquility. I loved every moment spent there.

What I liked most about this place is their lavish indoor pool and outdoor infinity pool. While one can spend great time at their open-air whirlpool, their indoor pool is also amazing.
