IATA Forecasts Passenger Demand to Double Over 20 Years

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) expects 7.2 billion passengers to travel in 2035, a near doubling of the 3.8 billion air travelers in 2016. The prediction is based on a 3.7% annual Compound Average Growth Rate (CAGR) noted in the release of the latest update to the association’s 20-Year Air Passenger Forecast.

“People want to fly. Demand for air travel over the next two decades is set to double. Enabling people and nations to trade, explore, and share the benefits of innovation and economic prosperity makes our world a better place,” said Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s Director General and CEO.

Saint Petersburg – Europe's Best Destination

Russian city Saint Petersburg has been recently voted Europe’s best destination in the annual World Travel Awards (WTA), dubbed the ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’.

Similarly, Titanic Belfast in Northern Island has been recognized as Europe’s best tourist attraction.

In the aviation sector, the award for Europe’s Leading Airline went to Lufthansa.

What Is Wine Tourism ?

The link between wine tourism and culture, history and lifestyle and the contribution of this segment to the development of the sector has been widely discussed during the 1st UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism held in the Kakheti region in Georgia.

During two days (7-9 September) the event convened over 200 participants including policy makers and tourism experts from nearly 50 countries.
