img_0480

What comes to your mind when you think of Indonesia? Pristine beaches and crystal clear water?  Well Indonesia is not all about awesome beaches, its rich tradition and culture make it even more alluring to travelers.

So let me introduce you Indonesia’s traditional caci dance, a ritual whip fight, which exists among the Manggarai people.

The dance performance is carried out by two male fighters, one of them come from another village to participate in the fight. Armed with whip, shield, masks, and sticks, these fighters show their skill amidst  shouting from spectators, who encourage them to show more lively performance.

It is generally performed to celebrate top events such as welcoming an honor-guest and wedding party.

Quick Stopover At Sari Amerta Complex

Sari Amerta Batik is one of Bali’s well-known shopping complexes famous for its batik products.

img_0793

A large number of tourists visit the complex daily to witness the rich and exquisite batik products displayed here. Situated in Batubulan, the complex offers foreign tourists an opportunity to get familiar with the process of designing the batik products.

Besides clothes, colorful paintings are also available for sale at the complex.

To make you familiar with the process of designing the Batik products, below are some of steps that these products go through before becoming a final product –

Making designs on the white material:
a. Copying the original designs; b. Directly without copying before.

Covering designs with wax (klowong) on both sides.
b. Filling designs with ornaments and small dots.
c. Covering some special part of the designs to get the second color (sawuk)
d. Covering some special part of the designs to get the third color (tembokan)

Traditional colors like blue, brown and light yellow are used for a better appearance.

All most all travel agencies in Bali can arrange a short trip to this complex.

To my disappointment, I could not get pictures of batik products as photography is prohibited inside the complex.

My trip was sponsored by Om Tourism – one of India’s leading travel agencies.

Labuan Bajo Port

img_0074

Hardly, you would come across a person who does not enjoy sunrise or sunset in this world.

img_0075

I was quite amused by the beauty of Labuan Bajo port, which is located at the western end of Flores in the Nusa Tenggara region of east Indonesia.

img_0083

While enjoying a memorable sunset at Paradise bar, I managed to capture a lot of images of this quaint port, which is gateway to the world famous Komodo National Park. You can clearly see here how nature can be awe-inspiring. Of late, this place has become quite popular among tourists because of its rare pink beaches and Komodo National Park. You can read more about Labuan Bajo here.

Indonesia’s Glorious Pink Beach

One of the most important tourist spots of Komodo Island is its glorious pink beach.

img_0305

I will recommend you to first make a trip to Komodo National Park before visiting this amazing and unique beach situated west of Flores island in East Nusatenggara.

img_0306

The beach is named as Pink beach due to its appearance. It looks pink due to amalgamation of white sand combined with red sand, formed from pieces of Foraminifera.

The beach is also known as Red Beach.

Upon your arrival, enjoy swimming here as it will literally make you feel like a fish. It is a perfect place for snorkeling due to crystal-clear water and colorful coral reefs. During my trip, I found many local people enjoying barbecue and listening to popular Hindi film songs. 🙂

Amazing views of clear seas, green rolling hills and blue skies can make your trip absolutely memorable.
