How To Explore Langkawi’s Eagle Square

Malaysia’s Langkawi is replete with splendid spots. One of them is Eagle Square, which is also known as Dataran Lang. It is a man-made structure, which is the symbol of Langkawi.
The massive sculpture of an eagle poised to take flight is definitely eye-catching and absolutely stunning. The 12 meter tall sculpture at Eagle Square attracts hundreds of tourists everyday, thanks to its amazing design. One of the iconic structures of Langkawi, the statue is surrounded by waters and bridges that provide mesmerizing views to tourists. The massive eagle sculpture greets everyone who comes to Kuah by ferry. The afternoon here could be too hot. So it is advisable to visit the place either in the morning or evening. As I was staying in Tubotel hostel, I rented a taxi and reached the place along with my friend. After spending 40 minutes there, I returned to my hostel. It is a beautiful place, which I recommend you to visit.

Because Experiences Matter !!!

Lots of people suggested me to visit Panjim’s Joseph Bar. It was early morning and the staff was not interested in me. They might have figured out this guy won’t spend much here. And I too realized this is not my kind of place. So I ordered a beer, finished it quickly and left the place after clicking few images. The interior part of the bar was very impressive. Soon I reached a hole-in-the-mole bar (since 1976). Ordered a beer and started conversation with the owner of the bar. When I asked him why people recommended Joseph Bar ? He just smiled. He told me It is crazy. All most all the tourists spend money there. Don’t we have a right to survive, he asked me ? My answer was – of course, yes, that’s why I am here. Ordered another beer with some snack. After spending around one hour I left for my room.

Have you been to Joseph Bar ?

Salzburg’s Beautiful Leopoldskron Pond

I just returned from a short trip to the Austrian city of Salzburg. This trip was organized by the Austrian Embassy, New Delhi and it was part of a competition organized on their Facebook page. I have captured a number of images and it is not possible to include them in a single blog post. The first post of my trip is about Leopoldskron pond, which is not far away from the Old Town of Salzburg. Probably the best place in Salzburg to relax and immerse in the stunning views of the pond, where one can spot a number of wildlife creatures such as ducks and swans. Situated against the backdrop of the bewitching Leopoldskron Palace as well as Hohensalzburg Fortress, this picturesque pond is 650 meters long and 220 meters wide. The driver of my hop-on and hop-off bus service dropped me near the pond. I was mesmerized by the sheer beauty of the place and did not even notice how my half an hour passed. From there, I walked towards Hohensalzburg Fortress. I also spotted few anglers, who were soaking up the sun. More posts on Salzburg trip is coming up !

Sandamuni Pagoda – A White Beauty

A visit to Sandamuni Pagoda in Myanmar was always part of my travel itinerary. Situated at the southwest of Mandalay Hill, this breathtaking Buddhist stupa was commissioned by King Mindon Min in 1874.

This pagoda contains the graves of the Kanaung, Sagu Mintha, Malun, and Maingpyin Princes.

It also contains an iron image of the Buddha cast by Bodawpaya in 1802, and removed from Amarapura by Mindon in 1874. The total weight of the statue is 18,563.2kg.

The golden chedi is the oldest structure on the grounds. It was constructed in 1874 by King Mindon Min on the site of his temporary Palace.

There are 1,774 shrines, each containing a single marble slab.

Keep aside a minimum of one hour for this pagoda and observe minutely how it has been built. Really a great spot for photography.
