Marriott International to Eliminate Single-Use Shower Toiletry Bottles

A Noble Effort

Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) recently announced that it’s expanding an initiative to replace tiny, single-use toiletry bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel in guestroom showers with larger, pump-topped bottles. To date, the company has already rolled out larger bottles at about 1,000 properties in North America, and now expects most of its other hotels to make the switch by December 2020. When fully implemented across the globe, Marriott International’s expanded toiletry program is expected to prevent about 500 million tiny bottles annually from going to landfills; that’s about 1.7 million pounds of plastic, a 30% annual reduction from current amenity plastic usage.

I just hope other luxury hotels around the world will take such initiative soon.

Few Hours At Patan Durbar Square

Kathmandu Valley’s famous Patan durbar square, which was severely damaged by the deadly earthquake in 2015, is a must see place if you are in the city of Lalitpur.
Located at the center of the city, the square is home to a number of beautiful temples and idols that are guaranteed to turn you into cultural lovers.
Some of the important temples are Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple and Vishwanath Temple. Thanks to its stunning architecture, this place is frequented by tourists and locals alike. No wonder, it is one of the UNESCO world Heritage Sites along with two other darbars – Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The whole area is filled with colorful cafes, numerous art galleries and guest houses. I spent few hours there, gazing aimlessly at the abundant beauty of the place.
