My Pokhara Sojourm

Pokhara is one of the top tourists destinations of Nepal, providing a major boost to the Himalayan country’s tourism sector.

Pokhara got added to my itinerary during my Nepal trip on the advise of some of my friends. The city attracts a large number of tourists as it is the starting point for them to kick off their trek to the Annapurna mountain. Phewa Lake is one of the most attractive tourists spots in the city, offering stunning views.

During my two day-stay in Pokhara, I spent most of time on the bank of the lake, viewing endless sky and pristine water. A number of water-sports activities are conducted on daily basis for tourist at the lake. The prices of these activities are fixed so no scope of bargaining.

However, I opted not to indulge in any sports. When it comes to accommodations, the city is home to a number of hotels, hostels and resorts and one could easily avail them without much hassle. So advance booking is not required. A number of bars, cafes and restaurants will welcome you once you land there.

Interestingly, I found evening more relaxed and soothing than morning. Bikes and bicycles are available to explore the city, a place where I would like to come again and again.

Welcome To Umiam Lake

Welcome to Umiam Lake! – Perhaps Shillong’s most famous tourist spot.

Located 15km to the North of Shillong, the lake is a part of a dam built as a first Hydel Power Project by the Assam State Electricity Board in Meghalaya. The lake and dam cover an area of more than 220 square km.

Its pristine beauty attracts tourists from all parts of the country.

The lake justifies its popular name “Bara Pani” or the Big Water, as its size is bigger than the country of Liechtenstein in terms of area.

Apart from the scenic views, tourists visiting the place can also enjoy water sports activities ranging from kayaking to water cycling. However, I kept myself limited to enjoying the scenic views. The lake is also home to a spectacular garden named Lum Nehru Park. This place is easily accessible to the tourists. I took a shared cab from the main center of Shillong and it took 30 minutes to reach the place. I kept myself busy for almost an hour in enjoying the unparalleled beauty of this vast lake.

Widely known as “The Pearl of Central Asia”, the color of the lake changes from green to blue-ish turquoise, as per the positioning of the sun and the time of the day.
Over a period of time, this lake – probably the most attractive tourist spots of the country – has become quite popular among foreign and local tourists alike.
It also offers plenty of water sports for tourists – ranging from Jet Skiing to Banana Tube Boat Ride.

I got my tickets through http://caesar.kg/.
The whole apartment is available for over USD 300 in June and July while the price could come down at the end of September.
Tourists are also allowed to cook their food inside their apartments. However, the tourist need to inform the agency in advance regarding this.

Alternately, you can have your food outside the resort.
A restaurant is also there inside the resort.
The best time to visit this place is between May to September.
If you want to run away from your busy life to a reclusive place then this is the place to be !

My Article On Issyk-Kul Lake

november-cover-2016-2

Hi guys ! You can read my article on Issyk-Kul Lake in the prestigious TLF magazine by downloading the PDF file here. file:///C:/Users/deepa/Desktop/Issyk-Kul%20Lake.pdf

Have you been to this famous and enchanting lake ? If yes, how was your experience ?

Lake Sfânta Ana

I got a rare opportunity to visit Lake Sfânta Ana (Lake Saint Anne), the only volcanic lake in Romania, thanks to my friend Lajos. My expectation was high when he had told me that we would make a short trip to this place. Situated amidst dense forest, this lake’s history began about 9,800-8,800 years ago. If you want to visit Romania, then this must be included in your itinerary.
